Head And Neck Cancer Treatment
Head and Neck cancers are the most common cancers among Indian men (oral cavity).
Tobacco, in any form is the most common cause of them.
Mouth and tongue cancers are the chief sites among the lot.
Common Symptoms:
- Non healing sore in the mouth, tongue
- Bleeding from mouth, nose, ear
- Head ache
- Ear/ Head ache
- Neck Lumps
- Change/ Hoarseness of voice
- Difficulty in swallowing
Diagnosis:
Will require tissue diagnosis in the form of punch biopsy followed by radiological examination (CT scan/ MRI) of the part under study.
Treatment:
Surgery is the main modality of treatment. Radiation therapy is the main form of adjuvant modality with chemotherapy in certain indications.
Rehabilitation:
Voice and swallowing rehabilitation play a key role for effective return of patient to normal functioning.
